Punch List
4 June 2008
It feels like there’s been too much going on to even get a post out.
- Book list: I was able to get more reading done for awhile; that was really nice.
- I went back to Seattle for a few days, but I’m definitely not ready to talk about that yet.
- Officially halfway through school, although not on the downhill side of it. more like Mile 22 of a marathon. Ugh.
- Looking at nutrition programs for after I finish school here… I must be insane.
- My neighbors need to find better ways to spend their spare time.
- I have a slice of vacation coming in July, but I’m having serious doubts about being able to make it through the next six weeks.
- Thinking about getting a larger bird. Not ready to talk about that either.
I’ll come back to this. But yes, I’m still alive.
Status Check.

It’s been awhile.
Life is busy, and complicated, but that’s ok. I took a couple weeks off school, I moved, I bought a lot of furniture, we got a high-zoot new menu at work, I’ve been getting ready to go back to Seattle in May for a few days, I’ve resolved and left unresolved a lot of personal stuff. I even did my taxes! By “did” I mean “filed for an extension since I didn’t do my taxes”, of course. This is the first year I’ve ever done so, but I’ve been in too much mailing address limbo for the last few months to get my act together.
And we’re down to one week left in my Meetup series… I’m getting a ton of word-of-mouth referrals but people are waiting for the next one before they join. This fall it looks like I’ll be teaching the same series at Books & Books down in Coral Gables; I’m considering writing a workbook for that one as well. Time to do some copyright usage research.

Jewish Jokes

A couple weeks ago at work we had an event for which we subcontracted a kosher caterer. They came in with their blowtorches and boiling water, and were hard at work most of the afternoon. Since I’m the only one on staff with any concept of kashrut, after awhile the coordinator started coming to me whenever he needed to find something, and we all started joking around. Later their sous said something to the effect of “well, of course you’re married already though.”
I looked at him and said, “no way, I’m not ready to go shaytl shopping just yet… do I look like I have time for that? I work in a kitchen as it is!”
The rabbi next to us looked at me, did an honest-to-god spittake and burst out laughing. Good times.
